RUSTY FALL DECORATIONS

These are my purple people eaters......no, they are actually Asters.
Aster begin to bloom as the daylight gets shorter.  It was dark at 6:30 this week.  In two weeks Daylight Savings Time ends.  That's when I start drinking wine, my winter beverage.

Last week I went to the basement and found some Halloween decorations.
Dennis said he saw a Duck Dynasty costume at Walgreens he would like to get.  Lord help us.

This wicked woman towers over the driveway.

She is mean and green.

                                                                      What is a pumpkin  atch????

Gourdy is a gourd head.

Patty and I found Gourdy on a hayrack at a garage sale.  Or was it on a garage at a hayrack sale?  I forget.  They also had 1000 bowling balls around their trees......and shrubs......and chicken house, and goat shed.  I paid 50 cents for Gourdy.

I'm a sucker for a jack-o-lantern.  Dad and I carved one every fall.  He spread out newspapers on the basement floor for the innards.  He would draw a face on the pumpkin with a pencil, then cut it with his pocket knife.  Back then we stuck a candlestick inside the pumpkin and lit it.  We always set it in the picture window so the one or two cars that drove down our gravel road could see it.

Now I just plug them in.  I prefer to enjoy the memories rather than stick my hands inside a cold, wet pumpkin.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
